After respondents submit their responses, the system automatically generates analytics for each assignment. This helps admins track participation, identify trends, and assess employee sentiment. It enables them to spot areas for improvement, make data-driven decisions, and take action to enhance workplace engagement.

When you edit or add questions to an engagement survey after collecting responses, and employees submit responses to the edited or newly added questions, their analytics also appear on the Analytics page.

Note: A minimum of four responses are required to generate analytics.

Navigate to Survey on the left pane.

  1. In the Ongoing Surveys field, click View All on the right.

View and export survey responses1-1

  2.   Select to the Engagement tab and select an engagement survey where you want to view analytics.

  3.   Go to the Assignments tab and click Analytics on an assignment.

On the Analytics page, you can view the favorability distribution and heat map that are generated based on responses to agreement choice questions.

When adding questions to an engagement survey, you can mark agreement choice questions as driver questions to calculate the engagement index. Responses to these questions help identify concerns or trends, enabling you to improve employee engagement.

Favorability distribution

The favorability distribution provides a range of engagement levels for a specific question or section. It indicates the diversity of responses on a particular aspect of the engagement survey.

The favorability score is the percentage of respondents who have answered favorably (agree or strongly agree) for a question or section.

The favorability distribution is calculated by the following formula:

Favorability Distribution (FD): Total favorable responses of active agreement choice questions / Total number of responses.

If you hide questions, you can still view respondents' responses. However, responses to hidden questions are not considered for the favorability distribution scores.

If a respondent selects

  • Either strongly agree or agree, the response to that question is marked as favorable.
  • Neither agree nor disagree, the response to that question is marked as neutral.
  • Either strongly disagree or disagree, the response to that question is marked as unfavorable.

The favorability distribution is calculated for the agree and strongly agree options only.

For example, a section has six questions, considering four respondents responded to a question.

  • Two responded as either strongly agree or agree, which is favorable. The ratio is 2/4.
  • One responded as neither agree nor disagree, which is neutral. The ratio is ¼.
  • One responded as strongly disagree or disagree, which is unfavorable. The ratio is ¼.

The system auto-calculates the ratios based on the responses.

The following colors indicate the favorability distribution:

  • Green is favorable
  • Yellow is neutral
  • Red is unfavorable

Delta is the difference between the favorability score of a section or question and its respective baseline.

Delta value = (Favorability score of specific section/question) - (Baseline of section/question)

Heat map

A heat map provides insights into different sections and questions of an engagement survey. It represents data by color variations, displaying different functional groups compared to a baseline. This allows you to identify patterns in employee engagement levels across different groups of the organization.

The system calculates the heat map using the baseline as the reference score. Once the survey is completed, a heat map is generated automatically.

For example, the six respondents responded to a survey from the same department.

In a question, the baseline is 41.88%, and their response is +16.67%, which is less than the baseline. The difference score is -25.21%.

If the difference is less than the baseline, the value is represented in the minus sign.

If the difference is more than the baseline, the value is represented in the plus sign.

The less difference is indicated in the light color, while the more is in the dark color.

Engagement index

In an engagement survey, you can mark agreement choice questions as driver questions to calculate the engagement index. Respondents must answer all driver questions positively (agree or strongly agree) to consider them in the engagement index, reflecting their full engagement within the organization.

For example, if there are ten questions, five are marked as driver questions, considering there are four respondents.

One respondent gave favorable responses (strongly agree or agree) to all driver questions. The ratio is ¼, which is 25%.

Two respondents responded to two questions favorably but gave neutral or unfavorable responses to three questions. Their responses are not considered for the engagement index, even though they have answered two questions favorably, indicating their lack of engagement.

The engagement index is the percentage of respondents who provide favorable answers (agree or strongly agree) to driver questions.

The engagement index is calculated by the following formula:

Engagement Index (EI) = Total favorable responses of active driver questions / Total number of responses to the driver questions.

Note: The engagement index is calculated only for active driver questions and not for hidden questions.
